This was our shoe compromise yesterday. She wore socks with her new shoes. It looks a little silly, but it's not crocs!

I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one with school shoe issues. Addison and Kaylee sound very much alike in this! She wore flip flops, sandals, and crocs all summer long and anything else just "feels weird" according to her. She wasn't thrilled when I told her the rule about closed toed shoes in P.E. So, just like Kaylee, she's now been wearing a lot of ankle socks with her shoes and we bought a pair of "Alice" style Crocs that are pretty cute.
The day I tried to get her to wear tennis shoes was awful! She acted like it was torture! =)
I guess they'll get used to it.
